K. Turley, "Southern gothic" refers to darker fiction set in the South. There are usually supernatural (or otherwise unusual) elements to the plot, but it usually also explores a Southern family or community and the various issues involved in them. Though sadly, I can't think of any titles off the top of my head...
Great description of "southern gothic," Becky! I keep thinking of Fallen by Lauren Kate. It's set in Georgia at a crumbly, ancient boarding school that happens to have a graveyard and creeping vines and fallen angels.
Yippee! That'll be great!
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so in. Woohoo!
