In case you hadn't heard yet, Borders is going to officially close their remaining stores.
So what does that mean for writers? How does it affect publishers? Is this another step toward the end of print publications? Another sign that ebooks are plowing to the future? Tell us your thoughts....
RIP Borders. I will miss you.
: ( That makes me so sad. One less place to hang out. Bummer.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me sad, too. I don't think it was as inevitable as people made it sound. B&N successfully integrated the new technology with their stores, and Borders just needed to do the same. I know it's easy for me to sit here and say that, and I don't know all the reasons they went under, but it does make me sad. Book stores are my favorite places to go with my husband on a date night. I love to talk about books with him while we walk around and point at covers, authors, and series we've heard about. We'll keep frequenting B&N and hope it doesn't meet the same fate.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video, Kristal!
I think it was the management that's making it close, not the loss of interested in the printed book.
ReplyDeleteAnd even if ebooks are the way of the future, someone still needs to write them.
It's so sad :( I love book stores.
