1- What is your favorite way to align and heal someone's body, mind, and spirit or soul?
Immerse yourself in nature; there all the answers we seek can be discovered, and only there body, mind and spirit can truly align. This has been so since the dawn of time.
2- Would you please, in 160 characters or less, give a #WriteTip ?
Write about what you know the best you can.
3- What emotions do you hope your book will evoke for the reader?
A greater appreciation of self-leading to self-inspiration. Once achieved, all goals are possible.
4- Is there one change to the current American healthcare system that could have a huge benefit to our health?
Putting medical decision-making pertaining to patient care back in the hands of medical providers where it belongs as opposed to administrators, insurance companies, legislators, and government regulatory commissions where it now solely rests.
5- Would you share a picture with us of your book?
6- How do you support your fellow debut authors and have any of them supported you?
I follow as many as I can on social media, and many do the same for me. More importantly, when several individuals approached me about considering writing, I offered as much encouragement as possible.

I’m a gastroenterologist, therefore, privy to the fact that on the inside, humans are generally more alike than different. As a physician, I am also in the privileged position to appreciate how precious yet frail each life I encounter truly is. My book is about health, fitness, and overall well-being, which is universally important, thus transcending all barriers protecting that which is most precious to all.
10- What's the biggest writing goal you hope to accomplish in your lifetime? #WriteGoal #BucketList #WriterBucketList
To make a meaningful difference regarding the overall health and well-being of as many individuals as possible.
11- What was the query process like for you?
I wrote relatively few query letters realizing that as an unknown writer, the odds I would even get acknowledged was low. Since I felt my subject matter was time sensitive, I decided to bypass the whole process and self-publish.
12- Would you please ask our audience an intriguing question to answer in the comments?
What are your greatest health concerns and goals in the post-pandemic “new normal,” assuming we get there soon?
13- Anything else you would care to share about your book and yourself?
Be honest, did you take up Peloton or sourdough starter kits during the pandemic? Were you incredibly motivated to get a Peloton but then found yourself using it as a clothing rack more than an exercise machine? You’re certainly not alone.
Joseph D. Pianka, MD, wants to start a conversation about every-day concepts that have made an enormous difference for both himself and his patients. Joseph D. Pianka, MD, has been a board-certified practicing gastroenterologist for over twenty years. His ultimate goal is to help as many people as possible who struggle to find motivation regarding health and fitness. In the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Pianka faced physician burnout and depression, so he sat at his computer and typed until the sun came out (literally and metaphorically). All of his proceeds from his fitness guide and motivational book, It’s All in Your Head, will be donated to Ukraine relief.
