Hurry Up and Wait...Again :D

A lot of this business seems to be "hurry up and wait". Write a book in a month (NaNo anyone?)! Get those queries out! You're on deadline, get that manuscript to your editor!! And then....you wait....and wait.....and wait some more :)

There are a lot of bumps in the road when it comes to publishing, but I think the waiting is hands down the worst. Waiting to hear from your crit partners, waiting on an editing letter, waiting on an agent response, waiting to see if that pub is going to sign you. The not knowing is enough to drive a person insane :)

I was going to post about my upcoming book A Bandit's Stolen Heart today. But I'm going to wait :D Its pub date was pushed to Monday (the 25th) so I will wait until then to share all the fun tidbits.

Until then, I wish you all happy reading and writing (and hopefully a very short wait to whatever you may be waiting on) ;)

  1. Aargh, how frustrating! But yes, we writers must have a masochistic side, to keep signing up for all these waiting opportunities.

  2. Waiting is part of the game, but if you're not waiting for a response, you're not trying. So YAY for all those who are waiting.

    1. VERY true :) And during the waiting is actually when I get a lot done...nothing better to keep your mind off a current waiting game than working on a new project :)

  3. Woot! So excited to read A Bandit's Stolen Heart! I've been anticipating this girl-robin-hood-of-the-wild-west story since I first read about it.

Waiting is tough, and I say that sort of how I say childbirth is hard work. I haven't queried anything in ages, so the actual sensation of it is dim in my memory. Only when you're in the throes of it do you truly understand. That's why I love writing forums like querytracker so much. It's nice to have commiseration.

I'll be frequenting querytracker this summer! For now I'm just waiting on myself to accomplish my writing goals in time.

  4. I can't wait for Bandits! :-) Oh wait. I guess I must. ;-)

The waiting is hard! We try to be so speedy and on top of everything, then who knows what's going when our work is in someone else's hands.
