Writing Credentials...
We've all seen it when querying, the dreaded statement that asks us to include any pertinent writing credentials. It's not that we would mind sharing... if we had any.
But it feels like a Catch 22. How can you have writing credentials if you haven't been published?
Luckily, there's lots you can share without being published.
Education.
Do you have a MFA, a degree in English? Maybe you write crime fiction and you have a degree in criminology. If you can make it fit, use it!
Profession
Are you an elementary school teacher who writes Picture books, a lawyer who writes legal thrillers, or a international spy who writes spy fiction. If you can disclose it, use it!
Clubs/Societies
Are you a member of the RWA, the SCWAI, or the SFWA? Associations like these show a commitment to the work.
Writing
Maybe you haven't published a book but have you worked on a blog, written articles, or published short stories. These are all worth sharing too!
Happy writing!-B
