Be Extraordinary

So it's 2011.

I'm not one for resolutions. I have the worst time remembering to take vitamins let alone stick to a resolution. And if anyone suggests giving up cookies, cake (or any form of confectionery), I may cry.

But I do like to do one new thing each year. This year I invite you to join me in being extraordinary.

How? By continuing to write.

Each time you put pen to paper, open that word document to begin a new project or think about a story/plot/main character you are extraordinary.

Every word you write. Every revision. Each re-write. Every query sent. This makes you extraordinary.

Why are you extraordinary? Because you never give up. We write, we learn. We read, we learn. We query, we learn. Every part of this journey tests, inspires, challenges and frustrates us, but we learn.

We grow.

We do what we love. And by doing what we love, we are extraordinary.

I don't know about you, but I think that's a great way to spend a year.

  1. This was a pleasure to read...always nice to have a positive!

  2. Aaaand I found my new motto. Thanks, Lindsay!!

  3. I like that motto too. Positivity isn't my middle name, but I wouldn't mind if Extraordinary was.

  4. Well said. All writers should be proud of what they do!

  5. *fist pump* Yay to all my extraordinary friends. :)

  6. One of my resolutions this year is actually to remember to take my vitamins!!! LOL!

Great post!! We are extraordinary, aren't we??

  7. Good for you, for staying positive. Keep up the great outlook and Happy Writing New Year.

  8. Totally - yes! Wonderful positive outlook. THanks for that.

  9. Great post! I think it's really helpful to pick ONE thing to try to change/learn/do and then do it WELL, rather than make a big list of stuff and fail.

  10. oh yay! I love being extraordinary.... I'll join you!
