Our Thoughts, Opinions, and Experiences Week - Nanowrimo!

This week the OA team is blogging about our thoughts, experiences, and opinions about NaNoWriMo.  Did you participate? If you want to comment on any of our experiences and opinions this week, please do!

I did not participate in Nano this year.  Too much going on in life and absolutely no time to do anything else.  I’m sure some of you can relate.  I’m also sure that some of you are busier than I am and you were still able to participate.  My hat’s off to you!

If you “won” Nano [congratulations!], you will receive “winner goodies” which this year includes a promotion by Inkitt.

Inkitt appears similar to Wattpad.  Authors upload their stories and readers can read and provide feedback.  From the Inkitt homepage – “When you share your novel on Inkitt, we analyze the engagement of your readers and offer high-performing novels a publishing deal.”

But – the Inkitt contract and marketing strategy has drawn some concern:

As with everything in publishing, authors are cautioned to read the contract and ask around.  Scams proliferate in publishing and you want to fully understand the pros and cons of everything.  You can search the Writer Beware website and/or send email, and learn if other authors have a similar story.

And if you’ve been scammed, please report it, in confidence, to Writer Beware.  Let’s all look out for each other.
